Important Info as 1st Meets approach

Attention Piranha Families!!!

We have a lot of important info to share with you as we get closer to our 1st meets:

( Yorklyn- 6/19 Girls and 6/23 Boys )

1) If you have not already done so, PLEASE go to https://persimmoncreek.swimtopia.com under Meets and Events and click on the Signup Calendar to RSVP attending or not attending.  The Coaches need this information prior to the meets.

2) Thank you to all the parents who have already signed up to volunteer. We greatly appreciate it.  We are still in desperate need of volunteers for both meets.  Please consider going under Signup Calendar and volunteering for a position.  We cannot run the meets without volunteers.

3) We will also be using the Game Changer Team Manager App that was approved by SSL  this season to complete a Health Status check-in before each meet.  You should have received an email invite for this app.  If you have not done so already, please accept the invite/download this app through your email.  If you did not receive an email please contact [email protected] and let us know. We will be using this along with SwimTopia.  Please make sure you RSVP to both.  I apologize for all the extra work but we are required to track this information in case of exposure.

4)  VERY IMPORTANT INFO:

****** Per the SSL Board *********

Mask Requirements for Meets

- The SSL recognizes that we have a significant number of participants in a swim competition (11 and younger) that are not vaccinated and pose risks to themselves and others if hygiene is not properly managed.

- As such, anyone at a competition that will remain in the competition area for longer than 15 minutes ( officials, timers, ready bench, ect. ) shall be wearing a mask.  Scoring table, volunteers that are continually transient and/or spaced at least 3 ft apart are not required to wear a mask but it is highly recommended.

- Athletes shall be wearing a mask while on the pool deck.  This includes walking to the ready benches, while seated at the ready benches, and exiting from the finished race.  All relay swimmers shall maintain separation between members of the same team and as much as possible from other/neighboring lane swimmers.

- Competition protocols remain previously stated as they prioritize the minimizing of physical interactions amongst meet volunteer workers.

The Board recognizes that the mask policy is more stringent than the latest addendum to the DE state of emergency particularly relative to those that are vaccinated. There are a few key factors that went into informing this policy approval which are solely focused on Safety while balancing against the reality of ‘mask management’ in the State of DE. The Board discussions for competitions centered around recognizing that the league has a significant number of participants that are not eligible for the vaccine (11 and younger) and pose a risk to themselves and others if not properly protected. This fact is the over-riding influence for approval of this policy and is in alignment with two Safety related elements of the stated Principles for the SSL (from SSL Rules)

1) The SSL wants participation by all swim team members to be a fun and rewarding experience, conducted in a safe and healthy atmosphere.

2) The SSL believes that safety of swimmers, coaches, officials and spectators is of primary importance.

The mask policy was established to focus only in the areas of competitions where longer term exposures exist across a more broad mix of people.
