Swim Meet 101

All swimmers report 1 hour prior to the start of the meet for warmups. We try to save parking lot spaces for the away team, officials, and those with special needs. Once inside at a home meet, we are on the left side of the pool.

All swimmers will swim 3-4 events per meet. Coaches will find your child when it is time to swim. As the events get closer, make sure you know where your child is to help out the coaches. Swimmers are lined up a few events before their own.

Our team gets points for first, second, and third place. We get more points for relays. Cheering is important for parents and kids. Please encourage your child to participate.

Wednesday night meets generally end by 9 pm. Bug spray is important in the evening. Seating is limited at a lot of pools, so bring your own chair.  We encourage all families to stay until the end to cheer on swimmers in the relays. Many meets are decided on these final events and they can be very exciting. All families should help with cleanup (especially trash etc in your area).

There will be times that your swimmer may be placed in events that they are not as comfortable swimming. The coaches are well aware of each swimmer's abilities and they have a reason for this approach. It may be to challenge the swimmer or a strategic move to get more points for the team. Please support the coaches' decisions even if your swimmer does not agree.
